The BFG

Piper 28/7/16 Bfg

Me and my Brother and Mum walked  to the movies to see the BFG in the holidays. We brought candy floss and popcorn and drinks. As the movie started I got goose bumps .The movie started.

Sophie lived in a foster home. She read a book about the BFG she said ‘’Never go to the curtain

never look at the window and never get out of bed ’’She saw the BFG wonderley walking around. He was knocking over bins  and he saw Sophie out of her bed and stuck his big  hand into the bed and snatched   her out of her bed. He jumped over hills  and when he  got to his cave he put a big grey rock in front of the door. She was frightened until she saw that the BFG was a kind giant. One of the big giants came in and liked to eat little girls and boys and she hid in one of the BFG's vegetable. The big giant left and she came out from hiding. Hello are you home and in came the big ugly giant. He was pushing the BFG, after the giant had left she said why do you let them treat you like that well I don't have a choice do I. The other ginormous giants realised that the BFG  had a girl. They had the BFG on top of a little car throwing him from side  to side making big crashing noises . The BFG took her away and showed her where he caught his dreams. All the Giants came rushing into his house and knocked over all his dreams and were wreaking his house .They were sniffing around the house but they didn't find Sophie because she was hiding in a big green tree and then the BFG sent them out of the house and Sophie said ‘’We need a plan’’ she said ‘’You should go and show that giants are real and that they are eating little girls and boys and so they whipped up a dream and went to England to see the queen and so they blew a colourful dream into the queen's room, and the queen dreamed that Sophie would be sitting at her white window sill . She dreamed that giants were eating boys and girls and she woke up and told her daughter and son about the dream. She saw Sophie sitting at her shinning white window sill and she let her in and Sophie told her about the giants and  she called the BFG the ‘’BFG and she kept calling and finally the BFG came and the guards went running out and she couldn't believe her eyes he went inside and he accidently knocked of the shiny chandelier , and the servant came in bringing a really big tray of big brown eggs and a coffee for the BFG the BFG was mind blown , and some breakfast in for Sophie, he and the queen and Sophie ate the pudding and then the BFG spat the brown coffee all other the gaurds and then the BFG said do you want a drink and the queen asked why are the bubbles going down then up and the BFG gave some to everyone even the dogs,  everyone farted and the queen tried to hold it in but she couldn't  and the dogs went farting up the stares the queen said let's go get the giants and they went and got the giants and the BFG grew a garden of green vegetables. The other giants got dumped somewhere else. The end

Matariki

The Seven Sisters

Long long ago, there lived seven mean little sisters.They all looked like each other. They all went around being mean to the people in the town and pushing them, stealing their things, and being mean to all the little kids. Their mum and dad always told them. "Never go out in the dark when the moon is out."

One sunny Sunday evening, the kids were in the town stealing things and the sun was loving watching the kids around the town. The moon came out and their mum and dad didn't know where they were. They were looking all around but they couldn't see the children. Suddenly, they saw the girls wondrously calling out for their mum and dad. 
Their dad and mum said, "I thought we told you not to go out when the moon is out. At least you came in before the moon took you away."
They all got up in the morning and were playing up  in the tree when they heard a voice.  
It was the sound of the tree saying, "Watch out! It is nearly night. The moon will come and take you away." 
They didn't listen. The moon grabbed them all with its long arms and they started floating up into the sky. The sisters became stars.
That's how Matariki came about.  

Piper And Holly

Piper and Holly were sisters and best friends. They loved to go on adventures. They lived in a forest and there were lots of trees all around them. Holly had brown hair and Piper had blonde hair. They loved playing in the forest. They lived in a wooden house.

One sunny Saturday morning, the two girls wandered their way through the forest. They heard a sound like a bird calling out for its mum cheep cheep. The kingfisher soundlessly flew across the forest. A baby kingfisher's mum was getting some worms for her babies. 

There was silence for a while but suddenly they heard squirrels squealing. They heard another sound the stream was splash splash over the rocks. A frog gently floating on a leaf downstream.

They were lost. They didn't know what path to go down. They were just about to go down the path but they heard their mum and dad calling out for them. Their mum and dad gave them a big hug and they said ''come on well take you home for a cup of hot chocolate''. 

You have used some great descriptive sentences in your story, including ‘activating the noun’. Well done.

Pet Day

WALT make up a story about a Pet Day problem.

WWBSWW:

• Begin with an orientation to tell the reader who, did what, where and when.

“Pet Day will be on Friday,” Miss Anderson, Tom’s teacher, announced to the class on Monday. “Bring your pet to school and tell us about it, then we will have a pet parade.”

Tom was so excited. He would be able to bring Harry to school to 

show everyone.

• Write the events leading up to the problem.

At the end of the day, he ran all the way home to get his pet ready for Friday.

He loved Harry and had wanted to show his friends for a long time, but his mum and dad had told him that Harry must never leave the house; but, now, his

teacher had given him permission to bring it to school.

Smilingly, he polished Harry’s green silky skin, talking to it with his friendly voice. “You’re allowed to come to school, Harry. You can meet my friends and my friends can meet you.”

As soon as Friday came around, Harry carefully took Harry out of its cage and placed him into his black backpack. He couldn’t wait to get to school, so he ran

all the way.

When the bell rang, he and the rest of the class stepped into the 

classroom.

• Write the problem.

Tom opened his backpack to show his friends what he had brought to school for Pet Day.

“It’s a green, slippery, slimey …...................” he said slowly. “Snake!” he 

shouted.

“Tom Denver, give me that thing right now!” Miss Anderson 

commanded.

Tom opened his hand to pass it over, but, at that moment, naughty Billy Burton lunged to grab it himself. He bumped Tom’s shoulder and Tom hurtled forward, the snake flying out of his hand to the back of the classroom.

“Eeeeeee! Where is it?” squealed Miss Anderson.

Chaos threatened in Room 4.  Children jumped up and ran around, screeching

their lungs out and pushing over chairs and desks, trying to find Tom’s snake.

• Write the events to tell your readers how the problem was solved.

They were screaming and running around the classroom, trying to find the snake.

The kids from the classroom gathered some things from around.

The class got some paper, scissors and glue.

Tom glued some sheets of paper together. He put some cords on the paper. They got Miss Anderson’s lunch.

Tom got the teacher’s sandwich. It had ham in it and he put the cage outside of the door and put the sandwich in the middle of the cage.

The snake went into the middle of the cage.

Finally, they caught the cage and he put it back in his bag.

Miss Anderson said, ''No one ever bring a snake to school again.”

Well done, Piper. Can you think of a better word than got.

Mount Everest

The Magic Show

Yesterday, Mr Emms, our principal, said, "Today, there are going to be two magic shows." Our school went into the hall for the magic shows on Catholic Schools Day.


The first  magician we saw was Jonathan.  My favourite trick was when he told Riley he could  I make any animals in the world. He asked what Riley wanted. He said all different kinds of animals but he kept saying dog, but Riley wanted a giraffe and he said, "This is a giraffe that is going to a  party and he is going to get dressed up as a dog." Everyone laughed!

Once that show had finished, it was the next show. El Gregoe and his assistant set up. We all went into the hall.
El Gregoe said, "Let's start the show." 

His first trick was when he brought out his first bird. He said, "I hope she isn't silly like last time, swinging up and down," and she was. Everyone was laughing because  El Gregoe didn't  know that the bird was swinging up and down. 

He did lots more tricks, but there's too many to tell you.

The Birthday of the Church

Pentecost is the day when people started spreading the Good News about Jesus.
When Jesus rose again, he came and told his disciples to spread the Good News. The disciples were scared because they didn't want the guards to come and nail them to the cross like they did to Jesus. But Jesus gave them courage and strength to spread the Good News by sending the Holy Spirit down to them. They had flames on their heads.They were  all looking at each other's heads. There was wind blowing around them.

The Holy Spirit had come to them. They went out and started spreading the Good News. That was the first Pentecost. That was the birth of the Church.

A Trip To The Zoo

Wow! Look at those cheeky monkeys over there. They so cute.

We were at the Hamilton Zoo because we had filled our marble jar up. Our teacher wanted us to study if the zoo was a good place for animals.

The monkeys were swinging from rope to rope. One of the monkeys ran through a yellow twisty tunnel. They were watching us, wondering what we were doing. They were running around in their noisy enclosure. One of them ran and reached their tail through the wobbly brown fence to grab a pineapple that someone had sneakily dropped by the monkey cage. The monkeys' long tails twirled around and around. Their black fluffy fur looked so long. I would love to hold a monkey but I wonder if they would be friendly. I would want to be sure. Sometimes, monkeys have  red faces, but they didn't. They had fur on their face instead .Their enclosure had wavy sticks and windy dust tunnels. They also had a sign that said, 'Watch out! I bite!' A big brown fence was around their whole enclosure. One of the zoo keepers said they had to take two zoo keepers with them when they went into the monkey cage because the monkeys try to come and steal the food, so one zoo keeper watches them while the other zoo keeper feeds them.

It was one of the coolest days of my life. I can't wait for our next class adventure.

Who St Patrick was and what he liked doing and what he didn't like doing
 - where he was born - what his family was like
He liked walking on the beach. He liked whittling his slingshot.
He hated school.
One day,
- didn't go to school
- went to the beach
- pirates came
- stole him and the other girls and boys
- sold him in Ireland to Milchu
- was a shepherd - looked after sheep and pigs (swine)
- started talked to God - trusted God and was happy
- One night, heard God talking to him - told him to go the a ship
- when he was on board, - big storm - ship grounded in France
- crew starving
- Patrick asked God for help
- God sent him pigs and an apple tree- ate pork dinner and apple sauce

One day a boy named Patrick was at school he hated school so one day he was walking to school and decided  to walk to the beach instead.He walked along the beach and suddenly he saw people on boats pulling up as many  kids as they could find up on to their boats Patrick got pulled up on a rope on to the boat as well.Then he got taken to a country called island  he got a job as a shepherd at winter he would help make butter and cheese Patrick was a shepherd for 6 years in then won night Patrick was asleep and he heard a voice go now Patrick your boat is waiting for you. When they started to drift off and a big storm hit them. Patrick prayed god please send some food so he did he sent them apple trees pork apple sauce.

Swimming Sports

On your marks, get set, go! I started to swim. I was coming 1st in backstroke. I swam as hard as I could and made it to the other side. They gave me a blue tag that said I came first and Holly came 2nd and Bella came 3rd. We went to Whaea Trish and Mrs Kerr-Bell, then we went to our house group. 

We waited for the next race. It was free style. Mr Emms said, "On your marks, get set, go!" I started to race. I made it to the other side. Holly came first and I came  2nd. That was the end of my races.

The Rocket

It was my turn next. I gingerly ran across and straight away I went 'splash!' into the sparkling cold water .

Paul and Ashley blew the rocket up with a machine that blew air out of it and put it in the big pool. It was at Ngaruawahia pools. It was a blue and red rocket. 

I swam over to the metal ladder and jumped back into the  line. I couldn't wait for my turn again. It was Holly's turn next. We all yelled, "Fall! Fall! Fall! and she fell into the thumping water . Next, it was Lavinia's turn and she just about made it to the end until she wobbled off. It was Room 5's turn next. 

World of Maths

Bang! Bang! the door went in the game, Where's Katie?" Katie was a cat. She was at the red door. We moved to the next activity. My group yelled, "The monkey!" We had to race our monkey. Every one put their monkey on the shiny starting line. "On your marks, et set, go." Blue won, red came second, yellow came third and green came last. We moved next to the slimy sticky beehive. We had to move the bee hive around. It was Milly's turn at that stage, but

it was time to finish.

Swimming 2016

Splash! Splash! the water went. We suddenly started to drift slowly with the water. We got to the other side. Next, we did free freestyle powerfully like a rocket. Ashley carelessly  threw the water toys into the thumping water. We all reached out excitedly to get the toy. At the end, we disappeared around the corner to get back into our school uniforms.
